Lead ore is a mineral deposit that contains lead, a chemical element with the symbol Pb and atomic number 82. The most common ore is galena, a sulfide mineral (PbS), often found with other minerals and metals such as zinc, silver, and copper. Lead has been used for thousands of years for its hardness, corrosion resistance, and low melting point, though its use has decreased significantly in recent years in products like gasoline and water pipes as awareness of its toxicity has grown.

Nigeria is a rich and abundant source of lead ore. One estimate by the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) puts Nigeria's lead ore reserves at over 100 million tons, based on decades of exploration work. The three main types found in Nigeria are galena, cerussite, and anglesite.

The future market outlook for the lead ore sector is positive, driven by growing demand for lead-acid batteries and electric vehicles.

Why Buy Lead Ore From Commodity 1?

Nigeria has not yet fully exploited its lead ore resources. In 2021, with 100 million tons of reserves, Nigeria exported a comparatively small $73.4 million worth of lead ore against $16 billion in global exports — an untapped, nascent market with competitive prices. The global lead market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.5% between 2022 and 2027.

Commodity 1 provides lead ore directly from the mine site to the global market. There are no middlemen involved, only our staff on the ground. We aim to be our customers' leading lead ore supplier and offer the best prices for our buyers.
