Naturally Grown Sesame Seeds

Sesame has one of the best oils of any seed, with a rich, nutty flavor common in cuisines worldwide. There are three types of sesame seeds: white (the most common, with a mild taste), black (a strong flavor often used in Asian cuisine), and brown (a hybrid with a rich flavor). Sesame seeds are eaten fresh, roasted, or as a paste, and are a good source of protein, fiber, healthy fats, calcium, magnesium, vitamin E, phosphorus, iron, zinc, manganese, copper, and selenium.

The fats in sesame seeds are mostly unsaturated, with oleic acid (omega-9) predominant, and they're low in saturated fats. Sesame seeds also contain the lignans sesamin and sesamolin, associated with reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
